Hosting a Free Fridge

Considerations

First of all, thank you so much for considering contributing a space to keep our community nourished. To make sure this feels sustainable and supportive of both you and our community, we encourage you to reflect on a couple important questions.

Is the Host Fridge accessible and safe?

We want to make sure the Host Fridge is in a safe and positive community hub where people can give and receive food. It also needs to be connected enough to a community that can self-sustain the fridge.

Can the Host help with filling the fridge for the community as needed?

While both Corvallis Free Fridge and the community will help to fill the fridge as best as possible, we would encourage Fridge Hosts to contribute to supply as much as they are able to.

Will the Host need help building a shelter, or can you build one yourself?

While we work on building a solid construction team, fridges will be prioritized that have the capacity to maintain their own storage.

Does the Host Fridge have access to power, and will you need financial assistance with paying for electricity for the fridge?

The average cost of electricty for a fridge is approximately $150/year. If you need support with covering electricity costs, that can be discussed on a case-by-case basis according to the capabilities of Corvallis Free Fridge.

Would the Host Fridge be accessible at any time?

At this time, we are prioritizing locations that have 24/7 availability and are accessible without restriction by hour.
